Getting here
Above the La Fortuna surf break, on the East Cape of Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, Mexico. Nine Palms and Shipwrecks are a few minutes’ drive.
It’s about 1 hour 15 minutes from San José del Cabo airport (SJD), or 35 minutes from San José del Cabo town. From the airport, take the toll road toward Cabo San Lucas and exit at San José. There are three grocery stores at the roundabout, and City Market is the best one to stock up at. The road is paved until the last 5 km, which are dirt. It gets bumpy sometimes, but it’s always passable and you don’t need a 4×4.
No. There’s no phone signal here, so use the Starlink Wi-Fi for calls and messages. Download your maps before you leave town.
Yes, all within walking distance. Restaurante La Fortuna, a food truck, is 40 yards away and the tiendita is across the street. Zai Sushi and Ozzy’s are about 100 yards, and Lateral and Shade about 300. For a big shop, stop at City Market in San José on the way in.

The surf
A reef break with a long right and, some days, a decent left. It’s a short walk down the hill, and on a busy day there might be ten people out. There are about 30 more waves along 20 km of coast, all reefs and points.
The season runs from late March to early November. April, May and June are excellent. August, September and October bring some of the best swell of the year, but that’s hurricane season: some days are for experienced surfers only, and storms are possible. In the winter off season there’s still a small wave almost every day, about hip to shoulder high, so you can longboard or learn to surf on most days. Check the surf forecast for Nine Palms and La Fortuna before you come.
In winter a neoprene top is all you need, and plenty of people surf in trunks all winter. It’s refreshing, not cold. In summer the water is very warm, so trunks and a tee shirt will do. Bring sunscreen whatever time of year you come.
Yes. We do board rental, surf lessons, guiding, 4×4 surf trips and surf photography. Message Jaime on WhatsApp to set it up.
Humpbacks pass by from November to early April, and you can watch them from the property.
